Round REEL Tape

A little about the tape from Kevin Leonard who is working on getting the MVT retro-fit to work:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
FILE PSWD BLOCK BLOCKS
SEQ# DATA SET NAME REQD C-DATE E-DATE RECFM LRECL SIZE USED
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

++++ NO VOL1 LABEL FOUND. NL ANALYSIS FOLLOWS ++++

   1 F 80 419
   2 F 1600 2879

*** EOV ***

The first file is LABEL=(1,NL),DCB=(RECFM=F,LRECL=80,BLKSIZE=80) and contains HASPGEN and RMTGEN JCL, including TXT decks of the programs that would later be found in SYS1.AOSH1.

The second file is LABEL=(2,NL),DCB=(RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,BLKSIZE=1600), and contains the source code input to HASPGEN that gets used to build SYS1.HASPSRC.

The program directory says: "File one contains 419 80-character records (unblocked). File two contains 57,572 80-character records (blocked 20 records or 1600 characters/block, 2,879 blocks)", which matches the tape map nicely.

In a vanilla SVS environment, the HASPGEN job reads file 2 as input, along with a card deck to customize HASP for the local installation, and produces SYS1.HASPSRC, whose source modules you then assemble and link. For MVT, there's an additional step required to refit the generated SYS1.HASPSRC to work on MVT.

The "LOST" Tape. This tape is currently unreadable and although I still intend to make several more attempts, likely it is not recoverable. If you have a good copy please contact me.

These materials are available thanks to the efforts of William Smith and Sam Golob who saved these tapes for over 20 years and Frank Pajerski and others who produced the originals.
