| | CBT Tape V249 and Other Old
Archives
These are old versions of the CBT tape, and most people will want to download from
the current CBT tape. These "golden oldies"
are kept here for those experts who want to revive an old utility that has perhaps not yet
been updated to work properly on z/OS, or for the curious. They are also
proving to be of particular use to the those working on freely distributed
OS/360 or MVS 3.8 operating systems which may be run under the freeware
Hercules 370/390 Emulator.
We have also included some newer CBT Tapes on this screen, so that
if you need something intermediate, in the history of the CBT Tapes, you might
be able to find it on one of the tapes shown here.
All these CBT tapes we have copies of here, are in AWSTAPE format (You
will need Hercules, P/390, etc to read these, or you'll need to use the File
533 VTT2TAPE utility to convert it to a real tape). The older
CBT tapes are primarily of interest to MVT/MVS 3.8 hobbyists using
Hercules.

Individual Files:

Created July - 5 - 1985
The files are all packaged with PKZIP and are in EBCDIC so you download from here,
unzip, upload as Binary (No EBCDIC
to ASCII translation) to
your mainframe to an FB80 data set. All data sets are
suffixed .XMI and are in XMIT format so you will need to do a TSO command RECEIVE
INDATASET(???) where ??? is the file you upload to transform it back to usable file.
XMIT format insures that all the odd data set attributes are preserved. The
older CBT tapes had many sequential files with VB255 or FBA133 and other non FB80 formats.
You will need a utility to unzip (decompress) the .ZIP files and I suggest either PKZIP or WinZip.
Need more help? Having Trouble? See our download
instructions.
File 1 is a complete index and guide to what is on the tape so if you do not
already have file 1 for the current version of the tape you will probably want to download
it first. It is available below in several formats so you can use the one that is
most convenient.
