CBT Tape has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for this website: cbttape.org.
We use your email and IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site.
No information from system logs including email or IP address of site visitors will be shared with anyone. They are retained only for use by the system administrator in resolving system problems and providing input to improve the usability of the site. This information is not available for sale to anyone.
This site contains links to other sites. cbttape.org is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites.
This site provides an email announcement list which you can join that is hosted at Topica. Participation in this mailing list requires that your email id only is stored at Topica. We have good reason to believe that Topica has taken appropriate steps to prevent unauthorized use of your email address. Additional Privacy Statement for mail orders
CBT Tape has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment
to privacy even when you volunteer some personal information in order to receive
a product such as a tape, CD-ROM(s) or other delivery by postal mail from from
us.
In requesting a tape or CD-ROM(s) you normally volunteer your identity sometimes
including your employer, often your phone number, and your mailing
address. We require an email address that accepts return mail and a valid
mailing address but everything else is optional. Information on the
products ordered, date, your identity, email address and and indicator that
payment was or was not received are stored in a data base (Excel spreadsheet) to
allow us to remind people who forget to pay and to track our
expenses. No attempt is made to aggregate the list of mailing
addresses although they remain for some period of time in the Outgoing mail
logs.
We will not share any of your personal information with anyone and what information we do have is not available for sale to anyone. I will purge your email address and all the personally identifying information from the mailing log if you request it after you have paid in full. To request this just indicate "please purge the record of my transaction" when you pay.
Security
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. These security measures consist of restricted access to log files and system libraries.
The CBT Tape mailing program operations run in Maryland, USA from the home office of Sam Knutson where some personal information is at least temporarily stored are also protected by reasonable security measures. These include the use of an operating system configured to require authentication to access data (Windows 2000), a hardware firewall located between the Internet and any internal computer systems, current Anti-Virus and Anti-Trojan software including but not limited to McAfee Anti-Virus.
Advertisers
Companies that run advertising on the web site or in the CBT Tape email newsletter have no access to any information about individual site visitors or people who have used the mailing program. We do not use web browser cookies on this site. All advertising graphics are hosted on cbttape.org to prevent any privacy abuses by a third party. The only information we will reveal to advertisers are counts of total page views or graphics retrieved and the current total number of subscribers to the email newsletter.
